The Talent Behind the Spotlight—United by Purpose, Driven by Art.
Chris Murdoch
Creativity Across Disciplines.
Co-Founder & Co-Artist Director
Chris: Multidisciplinary Circus Artist, Director & Master of Ceremonies

For over 20 years, Chris has captivated audiences with his wide-ranging artistry—spanning juggling, prop manipulation, theatrical and film acting, martial arts, acrobatics, and even the occasional (and intentionally bad) magic trick. His career reflects a deep commitment to both performance and creation across circus and theatre.

A Visionary Creator and Producer
Chris hosted a monthly show with fusion dance troupe Luciterra for five years and produced a series of immersive Halloween theatre productions. Alongside Yuki Ueda, he co-produced, directed, and curated Madskillz Vancouver, a grassroots circus festival that ran for a decade. Together, they also founded Cause & Effect Circus and created the award-winning contemporary juggling show The New Conformity.
Cause & Effect Circus has performed internationally, from the Singapore Grand Prix to theatres across North America, and brought large-scale productions to life—including The Nightmare Before Nutcracker, an East Vancouver hit blending circus and live music with a cast of 25 performers. In 2025, Cause & Effect’s latest creation, Luminarium, won the Best of the Fest Award at the Vancouver Fringe Festival.

Dedicated Teacher & Mentor
Chris spent 10 years teaching prop manipulation and performance skills at CircusWest and has led workshops in Canada, the U.S., Australia, and Southeast Asia. His teaching bridges technical precision with theatrical presence, inspiring the next generation of circus artists to explore the full spectrum of performance.

Crafting for Stage & Screen
In 2016, Chris discovered a passion for leatherwork, which led to a second career in the film industry. Today, he also works for film and television— making real clothes for imaginary people
